Xerver Free Web Server 4.3 is a web and FTP server based on java.
This is a great free web server that allows you having your web site up and running in just a few minutes. It allows you to run PHP and Pearl scripts, in fact any CGI scripts. Also it’s a FTP server where you can download files remotely. This web server allows you to run any web page due to its versatile platform.
You can run any CGI script by enabling and choosing which script types are allowed in your server. This web server provides a Setup Wizard with nine steps to configure completely your web and FTP server; its Setup Wizard is very easy to follow and anybody can configure it with an excellent explanation in every step.
Some features for this release includes: password protection for folders, so it will prompt a window requiring an authenticated username and password every time that you someone tried to access to your restricted folders previously configured during the setup; another feature is that it can start in a background process and you can't even note that your server is running; it allows editing your own error pages; it allows remote administration.
Also it provides full support for HTTP/0.9, HTTP/1.0 and HTTP/1.1. It allows virtual directories (aliases). It offers different security features to protect your server and your information.
Its GUI is so simple and easy to use; its Setup Wizard is very illustrative and detailed proving and excellent guide to users. Its installation process is very easy to perform, but it will require installing or updating Java. Its documentation is detailed and very useful in case you will have any trouble.
Xerver Free Web Server is platform independent so it can be installed in Windows, Linux, UNIX, Mac platforms. In fact, it can work in any computer with Java interpreter installed with very low resources.
